Dawn Chapman has been creating sci-fi and fantasy stories for thirty years. In 2005, her life and attention turned to scripts, and she started work on The Secret King (TSK), a 13-episode science fiction television series, with great passion for this medium.
In 2010, Dawn returned to her first love of prose. She has been working with Coach EJ Runyon, who has encouraged her away from fast-paced script writing, to revel in the world of TSK and Letháo as an epic prose space journey.
She has had success with a web series, co-written with 'Melvin Johnson,’ produced by Nandar Entertainment, and a short film, “Irobe,” also co-written. This year, her experience of working with producers/directors from the United States and Australia has expanded. From drama and science fiction to action, Dawn has built a portfolio of writing, consulting, and publishing.
With a total of 30 years' experience in Advertising, Filmmaking and Scriptwriting, Jaime Bengzon brings a multi-disciplinary approach to the visual side of The Secret King.
Under their pennames, he and Dawn had bumped into each other on different writing websites over the years. In 2012 Jaime returned to Visual Arts, his first love, and asked Dawn if she knew any writers who were interested in having their characters visualized.
Dawn was, and the rest, as they say, is history.
For the TSK "cast", Jaime prefers to start from the inside getting to know the characters through the source material, conversations with Dawn, and her notes. When something sparks he'll do a sketch, and send it off to Dawn for her feedback. More often than not they're in sync.
Jaime and his wife live happily in the Philippines.
Steven Kogan has had a love of stories from a very young age. Once realizing he was the only one getting to enjoy them in his head, he began to write them down.
Steven and Dawn Chapman have been writing partners since 2007, developing The Secret King into a television series. He has assisted with several episodes and built out many of the characters in the extended TSK universe.
For 6 years, Steven has served as a screenplay contest judge with the Austin Film Festival and a script editor and consultant on Zhura.com. He has been published in the Sci-Fi Almanac and on 365tomorrows.com.
He currently lives in Austin, Texas with his wife and cat.
