Author Interview: Lisa Emme

Lisa EmmeHi Lisa, thank you for agreeing to this interview. Tell us a little about yourself and your background.
Hi. Thanks for having me. I’m relatively new to publishing. I’ve been writing for about five years and have just recently published my first book, Dead and Kicking. It’s the first book in my urban fantasy trilogy, The Harry Russo Diaries. I’m a voracious reader so I like to think that I’ve done a lot of research in the field prior to publishing. To pay the bills, I work as a systems analyst in IT.

What were you like at school?
I always had my nose in a book between classes!

Were you good at English?
I have to admit to not particularly enjoying English class (I did get good marks though). I love to read but I hated having to dissect what I read.

What are your ambitions for your writing career?
Honestly, I don’t have huge ambitions. Of course I’d be lying if I said I didn’t secretly have dreams of overnight success like E.L. James or something. I’m realistic though and I hope that my book(s) will continue to gain new readers and that those readers enjoy what they read. I had a lot of fun writing The Harry Russo Diaries and I hope that translates over to the reader’s experience and that they have a few laughs while reading my book(s)

What are you working on at the moment?
Right now I’m finalizing the second book in The Harry Russo Diaries trilogy, Tooth and Claw, and working on the final edits for book three, Deadlocked. I also have a contemporary romantica (romance/erotica hybrid) that I’m editing for release in 2016.

Author Interview: Drew Avera

Hi Drew, thank you for agreeing to this interview. Tell us a little about yourself and your background?
I grew up in rural Mississippi. As a kid I never really liked reading, but I did like cartoons and comic books. I spent hours reading comic books and then imagining what it would be like living in those worlds.
I came up with a lot of stories in my head, but I never wrote them down. Eventually, that all changed. Now, I am a thirty-something year old man with a wife and two kids. I write primarily science fiction, but have dabbled in urban fantasy and psychological thrillers.

What were you like at school?
I was a band nerd with no drive to get good grades. I never did my homework and barely passed tests. I was a lazy student, but I was passionate about music and comic books. Luckily, I grew up and quit being lazy, lol.

What are your ambitions for your writing career?
I want to be a full-time writer.
